Sorry for the spam today. Here's my quick, mini review of the new Duran Duran CD, Red Carpet Massacre...

1) The Valley - good (sounds like DD)
2) RCM - I like the beat, but having a hard time with the stupid lyrics. typical Simon and his stupid lyrics. Haha.
3) Nite Runner. I really like this song. Sounds like a stripper song.
4) Falling Down. Great song, but already kindof sick of it. Especially since it's my ring-tone, too.
5) Box Full O'Honey - not my favorite.
6) Skin Divers - Probably my favorite song on the album. The beat is so cool.
7) Tempted - I would say this is my second favorite song. It reminds me of the 80's Duran Duran.
8) Tricked Out - No lyrics; all instrumental. I feel like I should be in the movie, "16 Candles" jumping around with one of those big Madonna bows in my hair. It's just a fun song!!
9) Zoom In - Not a deep opinion. Don't love it, don't hate it. I'm never in the car long enough to get to these tracks anyway.
10) She's Too Much - I like this song. A little on the slower side.
11) Dirty Great Monster - My least favorite song. I know that Simon is not really known for his lyrical skills, but this is just such a stupid song. It sounds like a song you would smoke dope to.
12) Last Man Standing - Same as #9. No real opinion.

Okay, all this being said, I looked at the liner notes, and JT and Timberland helped out with #3 and #4. You can definitely hear their influence in those songs.

Overall I rate the CD a B-/C+. Since I'm listening to it on my computer at work with one headphone, it's hard to give it a higher grade. These songs might sound better on an actual CD player.

However, after "Astronaut" I had such high hopes for them, but unfortunately they just didn't live up to it. I'm glad I didn't go out of my way for concert tickets, because I wouldn't HAVE to see any of their new songs in concert. Of course, I'm always happy to go see their old-school stuff.

Help from fellow writers

Our company is doing a drive to send care packages to family members that are serving overseas. I am on the committee, and being Miss "Give me whatever job is leftover," I have been put in charge of writing up little notes to each of the soldiers.

I have no imagination and never know what to write. Anybody have any ideas what I can put in the note? Obviously I'll put the "Thanks for serving..." and probably a blurb about our company, but after that I'm at a loss for words.

Suggestions? I really want to emphasize how proud we are of them.

Thanks!!
